Tim is an Australian physiotherapist, educator, and movement designer with over 20 years of experience in treating complex pain, injury, and mental health-related movement dysfunction.
With dual Bachelor's degrees in Physiotherapy and Exercise Science, and a Double Master's in Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy from Griffith University (Gold Coast), Tim combines rigorous clinical insight with a deeply human, movement-centred approach to care.
Tim’s career has spanned private practice, elite performance, and international consultancy. Most notably, he served as a national consultant in Doha, Qatar, where he integrated physiotherapy into psychiatry and mental health settings. As department head at Naufar—a CARF-accredited centre for addiction, wellness, and behavioural disorders—he developed the groundbreaking Active Community Model. This model brings together physiotherapy, psychology, and exercise physiology in peer-based group sessions, using movement as a language for healing, connection, and psychological growth.
Tim champions Movement as Medicine, a philosophy and method that harnesses the body’s natural systems—opioids, cannabinoids, and neuroplasticity—to address pain, mood, and cognition without dependency on medication. His work applies this framework across persistent pain, post-injury recovery, mental health, and performance optimisation.
A pioneer of minimalist footwear rehabilitation, Tim takes a unique whole-body approach that reconnects clients with natural movement patterns through barefoot principles. By rewilding the foot’s function, he has helped clients overcome conditions ranging from hip osteoarthritis and chronic back pain to pelvic floor dysfunction, gut distress, and anxiety.
As a designer, he is currently developing footwear that restores ground feel, awakens proprioception, and removes the need for artificial cushioning or orthotics—drawing from his own lived experience of running marathons in barefoot shoes despite a high, rigid arch.
Tim currently leads Fortitude Physio, based in Ivanhoe, Melbourne, where he provides advanced physiotherapy integrating biopsychosocial care, personalised rehabilitation, and performance coaching.
Since 2019, he has served as a Clinical Panel Consultant to the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), where he advises on treatment appropriateness, functional recovery, and alignment with the Clinical Framework for the Delivery of Health Services.
At the heart of Tim’s work is a belief in human movement as a form of resilience, restoration, and expression. His whole-person lens considers not just physical pain, but the emotional, spiritual, and relational patterns that influence recovery. He helps people reconnect with their bodies—and with life—through movement that is purposeful, grounded, and joy-filled.
